William Cuffay was a tailor, which meant be made clothes like suits, jackets etc. But he also became a prominent Chartist, fighting for a range of political rights. In the 19th century only the rich had the vote. Cuffay believed that everyone should have the vote and organised meetings, protests and petitions to try and achieve this.
