Question: Firstly, I have to say I find your research probably the most effective and enjoyable to read... However, I believe that babies are vulnerable to anything their environment throws at them. Therefore learning directly from their parents and surroundings... What made you want to delve further into this and what do you think doing this method/experiment will prove to us, as students in particular?

I completely agree that babies are quite vulnerable to their environment. In fact, I am just now doing a project to explore how the environment and how maturation influence infants’ language development. What made me want to delve further into infants’ language development is a combination of curiosity and interest for the topic. Very early on I realized on the one hand that I was very interested in infants and children and on the other hand I have always loved languages, so when I saw that there was a project available during my Masters on babies’ language development, I thought that’s a very interesting topic, and once I starting working on that I absolutely love it!! so I have since keep working on this.

I am not sure whether my experiments will prove anything to you, as a student, but what we want to achieve with our studies is to understand how babies are able to learn their native language, once we do that, then we will be able to help children having language difficulties and maybe also find better ways to learn a language as an adult.
